Autumn – By Ariana Garrett
“In Nebraska, autumn is one of those “unexpected” seasons. One morning we all wake up and the world is shrouded in silvery-hoar-frost. By eight o’clock a.m. the frost glides off of the tree leaves, revealing a passionate cosmos of triumphant reds, oranges and forest greens. . Hints of bright yellow sparkle from amongst the mixture as some late-changing leaves scramble to darken and match their gloriously dressed companions.
Autumn raindrops reflect distorted images of the flushed world around them, while outside the cities pools of water peep out from the tall brown weeds like jewels woven through a fine lady’s hair.
A fresh, clean fall moon gleams down on the sleeping world and smiles- a soft white ray of magical light making its way past snoozing squirrels, leaves trembling in the tender breeze, and coming to rest on some blessed, earthy, Nebraskan wildlife.”
